Gratitude Tuesday
Posted in Gratitude Tuesday, OMG she's still talking about the snow?, depression, life, winter on 02/09/2010 04:27 pm by beckyMany moons ago (13 years to be exact) when I was going through a massive nervous breakdown hard time, on Sunday nights I would write in my diary a list of the things I could look forward to in the upcoming week. No matter how big or small, it was something that kept me going.
Thankfully life isn’t even in the same galaxy as it was when I was 25 and living in that depressing one bedroom apartment that was so close to the Minneapolis airport I could only catch 15 minutes of Friends due to the planes taking off and landing. But still with this winter Never Ending and the new 9 inches of snow we just got, I thought I could use a list.
I’m going to call it Gratitude Tuesday. (You know…between this and Wordless Wednesday, Thirsty Thursday and maybe even a Frugal Friday this blog might soon turn into just a template. I can leave behind the days of having to THINK and be CREATIVE. I’ll have the Mad Libs of blogs. “The (noun) of (a type of royalty) (person in the room)“)
So here are my Top Five Reasons to Feel Grateful this week and therefore stop mopping around in my snow boots.
1. This year I actually have a real valentine on Valentine’s Day, one who isn’t required to love me because of blood ties.
2. My toothache turned out to be absolutely nothing but a popcorn kernel stuck. (TMI? Maybe but this is my list. Make your own list and censor it.)
3. When we got an invite for my nephew’s birthday party which happens to be at the exact same date and time as Ben’s baseball game, my boy said of his own free will, “Family trumps baseball.” Clearly I’m doing something right with this parenting thing.
4. Lost is back and on tonight. That is all.
5. It’s environmentally impossible for winter to last too much longer, right? Even if the answer is no, lie to me.
What’s your list? Maybe if I can get someone tech savvy enough to help, I’ll get a Mr. Linky thing going and we can all share our Gratitude Tuesdays. (Yes, that was a HUGE whopping hint for someone to help me. Please and thank you.)

all kidding aside, that’s a mighty wonderful list. in fact, you are ALMOST making me want to be all introspective and deep and stuff and come up with my own list.
i don’t think linkys are too hard. i have done one once and am happy to help. however, if someone more confident offers, you should totally take them up on it.

I wanna put my list here cuz I don’t have a blog and I don’t know Mr Linky.
1. Tomorrow I get my “Dear John” aka you’re laid off along with 112 other people. Been coming since October so no surprise. You may wonder what I’m grateful for well as my husband says – how many times in your life will you be fired and given a big pile of money. And I get to leave a job I hate. Been there 26 yrs. Ok I’m just rambling now.
2. It’s supposed to be sunny here all week and although it’s not really warm warm, the sun has been melting the snow.
3. Friday is my husband’s birthday and Sunday is Valentines day – 2 good reasons to celebrate this week.
4. My dog is the best dog in the world.
5. I don’t have to cook dinner.

I love your list and I’m so glad your toothache was just popcorn. What a great tool to get you through a week. I’ve always disliked Tuesdays way more than Monday. At least Mondays are fresh and new – Tuesdays can just simply be depressing. OK – here is my list, uncensored:
1. We finally got snow (all the big storms had been missing Chicago), it’s not too cold, and it looks perfectly gorgeous in my yard right now.
2. The little one pee’d on the potty tonight.
3. My parents got on board with the idea of coming to watch my kids in June so hubby and I can go on a 10th Anniversary Second Honeymoon.
4. see #3 – I’m extremely excited about that one.

I love that your son said “family trumps baseball”, how sweet:) What a great list, and idea. It is so easy to get caught up in the muck and yuck of winter but reminding ourselves of all we have will help with that:)

Yay for gratitude Tuesdays AND Wednesdays. First, I’m thankful that you’re extending your Tuesday event into Wednesday. Second, I’m grateful Ann wasn’t harmed in that bank robbery. Third, I’m thankful for the sun following the rain. Fourth, I’m thankful I have a babysitter today so I can do everything I’ve always wanted to do…. in one day. And last, I’m thankful for my shower cause it’s awesome.

Every night at dinner, we come up with stuff we are all grateful for. Doesn’t matter how big or how small.

Wonderful lists everyone! I might not do this every week but definitely often. I love seeing your lists and remembering all the good that is out there.

I love this list! I’ve thought about doing the same thing in a diary… giving myself things to remember to look forward to. Right now:
1. A nice on the way.
2. A sweet snoring bulldog next to me.
3. Seeing Valentine’s Day tonight at midnight.
4. Coming up with a Valentine’s Day plan with my boyfriend.
5. Valentine’s Day!
